Privacy policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
This policy explains what information the mobile game Save the Fish (the "game", Android package com.code4ocean.savethefish) and the website savethefish.games handle, why, and the choices you have. The game is made by Code4Ocean ("we", "us"). Questions: support@code4ocean.com.
Short version
- You do not create an account with us. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, address or photos.
- Your progress is saved on your device. If you sign in to Google Play Games or Apple Game Center, a copy can also be kept there.
- The game shows ads from Google AdMob and Unity LevelPlay (and the ad networks LevelPlay works with). Ads can use your device's advertising ID, but personalized ads are shown only where you allow them.
- Adult players' gameplay and ad events go to Google Firebase Analytics and Meta (Facebook) App Events so we can understand how the game is played and measure our ad campaigns.
- Players who tell the game they are children get only non-personalized ads, and the game sends no analytics or campaign events about them.
- Payments are handled by Google Play or the App Store. We never see your card details.
1. Information stored on your device
The game saves your progress, settings, chosen language, coins, shells and purchases, and your answers to the age and consent questions, on your device. This data does not leave your device unless one of the services below needs it. Settings → Clear data in the game resets your progress (purchases and settings are kept so you do not lose what you paid for). Uninstalling the game, or clearing its storage in your device settings, erases everything.
2. Age question
The first time you play, the game asks for your year of birth. We use the answer only on your device, to decide which ads and features fit your age. It is not sent to us. Players under 13 (or the age of digital consent in their country) are treated as children: they get non-personalized, family-friendly ads, no analytics or campaign events are sent about them, and some features (such as the feedback email and native ads) are hidden.
3. Advertising
The game is free and is paid for by ads. Ads come from two independent providers:
- Google AdMob (Google LLC). Google Privacy Policy, How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- Unity LevelPlay (formerly ironSource, Unity Technologies) and the ad networks it mediates. Unity privacy policy.
To show and measure ads, these providers and their partners may collect your device's advertising ID (Android Advertising ID or Apple IDFA), IP address, device model, operating system, language, approximate location derived from the IP address, and how you interact with ads. They act under their own privacy policies.
Your choices:
- In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland the game shows a consent form (Google's User Messaging Platform) before personalized ads. To answer again, clear the game's storage in your device settings (or reinstall the game) and the form appears on the next start, or contact us.
- On iPhone and iPad, the game asks for permission to track (App Tracking Transparency). If you decline, your IDFA is not shared.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your device settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads; iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking).
- Some rewards are offered for watching an ad. Watching is always your choice.
4. Analytics and campaign measurement
In the store version of the game, for players who are not children, the game sends a small set of events to:
- Google Firebase Analytics (Google LLC), and
- Meta App Events (Meta Platforms, Inc., the Facebook SDK). Meta Privacy Policy.
The events are things like "app opened", "level reached", "ad shown and its value" and "purchase made and its price". They come with the app instance ID, the advertising ID where you allowed it, device model, operating system, country and language. We use them to see which levels are too hard, to keep the game free, and to measure our ad campaigns on Google and Facebook. Where you have not consented to personalized ads, the events are still sent but without ad personalization: Google receives them in consent mode with ad storage, ad user data and personalization denied, and Meta receives them without the advertising ID.
5. Purchases
Optional purchases (shell packs and "Treat the dev" snacks, which also turn off the ads between levels) are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store under their terms. We receive only a confirmation of what was bought, never your payment details.
6. Google Play Games and Apple Game Center
If you sign in, the game uses these services for achievements and, when you turn on Save to the cloud, to keep a copy of your progress in your Google or Apple account. Settings → Delete cloud save removes that copy. Google or Apple provides your player ID and nickname to the game for this purpose; their privacy policies apply. You can play without signing in.
7. Feedback email
If you tap Feedback in Settings, your email app opens with a message to us that already contains the game version, device model, operating system, language and number of levels won. Nothing is sent until you press send. We use your email only to answer you and to fix problems, and we delete it when it is no longer needed.
8. Other technical data
- Game content and settings updates: the game may download level and ad settings files from our servers on Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver them. We do not use it to identify you.
- Notifications: reminders (for example "your daily gift is ready") are scheduled on your device. We do not use a push-notification server. You can turn them off in your device settings.
- Updates and ratings: the game uses Google Play and App Store features to offer updates and to let you rate the game. These run inside the store.
- Website: savethefish.games and code4ocean.com use no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. Cloudflare, our host, keeps standard server logs.
9. Children
Save the Fish is a game for all ages, not a game only for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. For players who say they are children, the game shows only non-personalized ads rated for general audiences, sends no analytics or campaign events, and does not show the feedback email. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Legal bases (EEA and UK)
We process data on the basis of your consent (personalized ads, campaign measurement), our legitimate interest in running, improving and securing the game (non-personalized ads, basic analytics, delivering content), and to perform our contract with you (delivering purchases).
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent. We do not sell personal information for money. Sharing the advertising ID with ad partners may count as "sharing" for targeted advertising under some US state laws; you can opt out with the device settings in section 3.
Because we have no accounts, the quickest way to delete your data is to uninstall the game (or clear its storage) and to reset your advertising ID. To ask us to delete anything else, see how to delete your data or email support@code4ocean.com. We answer within 30 days.
12. Keeping and protecting data
Data stored on your device stays until you delete it. Analytics providers keep event data for a limited time (Google Analytics: 14 months). Data is transferred over encrypted connections. Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries, under safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
13. Changes
We may update this policy when the game changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. Important changes will also be announced in the game.
